Poroaidankangas Lean-to Shelter

The Poroaidankangas lean-to shelter is located about 6.5 km south of Rovaniemi city centre, along the Pöyliövaara–Virikkolampi nature trail and winter walking route in Pöyliövaara.
The log-built lean-to stands on dry heath forest along an old cart road. The site includes a fire pit, and nearby there is a firewood shed and a composting toilet.
Access:
From Rovaniemi city centre, drive 3.9 km towards Ranua along Kajaanintie, then turn right onto Kemijoen Itäpuolentie and continue for about 300 m. From there, turn left to reach the Pöyliövaara parking area (approx. 150 m). From the parking area, the distance to the lean-to along the Pöyliövaara–Virikkolampi trail is about 2.4 km via the most direct route.
By local bus:
During school summer holidays:
Bus line 7 runs on weekdays, and bus line 5P runs on weekdays and weekends to the stop Metsämuseontie I. From there, it is about 1.2 km to the start of the nature trail, followed by about 2.4 km to the lean-to.
Outside the school summer holiday season:
On weekdays, buses 3 and 6 run to the stop Ojanperä th, from which it is about three kilometres to the lean-to. On weekends, line 5P runs to the stop Metsämuseontie I, from where the distance to the start of the nature trail is about 1.2 km, and then about 2.4 km to the lean-to.
